A festival is a temporary town. Alba EMS provides the treatment centres, welfare areas, clinical teams and ambulances that keep it running safely — across long days, changeable weather and overnight periods.
Multi-day thinking
Day one and day three are different events.
Festival presentations change over a weekend. Early on you see minor injuries, blisters and heat or cold exposure. Later, cumulative dehydration, alcohol and substance use, existing medical conditions and lost medication become the bigger drivers. Cover has to flex with that, not sit flat across the programme.
We plan treatment capacity, welfare space and clinical grades per day and per period, including overnight campsite cover. Access into dense standing crowds is planned separately from vehicle routes, because reaching a patient at the front of a stage and getting them out are two different problems.

What we set up at a festival.
- Mobile or static treatment centres sized to the audience
- Welfare areas, including supervised alcohol and drug treatment provision
- Roaming clinical teams and crowd-access response teams
- Cycle response for restricted-access areas and campsites
- Road and 4x4 emergency ambulances with blue-light capability
- On-site doctor's surgery or wound care clinic for extended events
- On-site pharmacy services for immediate dispensing where appropriate
- Health screening, including blood pressure and blood glucose testing

Planning, documentation and approvals.
Most of the work that makes a festival safe happens months earlier.
Medical risk assessment
Audience profile, capacity, programme, site layout, weather exposure and access are assessed to set a proportionate resource level.
Site inspection and SAG
Site visits and attendance at local authority Safety Advisory Group meetings, with the documentation those meetings require.
Debrief and reporting
A structured debrief with activity reporting and learning that feeds into next year's plan.

What does a festival medical plan usually include?
A medical risk assessment, the resource level and clinical grades on site, the location and capability of treatment facilities, welfare arrangements, escalation and hospital transfer routes, communications, and the arrangements for each day and overnight period.
Do you provide alcohol and drug welfare areas?
Yes. We provide welfare support solutions including alcohol and drug treatment areas with medical supervision, integrated with your wider welfare and safeguarding provision.
Can you cover a campsite overnight?
Yes. Multi-day festivals with camping need cover after the main programme ends, and that is written into the plan as a defined overnight resource rather than left to on-call goodwill.
Will on-site cover reduce hospital transfers?
A well-specified treatment centre lets many patients be assessed, treated and discharged on site, which reduces unnecessary transfers and keeps NHS ambulance resources available. Patients who need hospital care are escalated without delay.
Can you provide a doctor or pharmacy on a long festival?
For extended or protracted events we can provide an on-site doctor's surgery or wound care clinic, and on-site pharmacy services so routine medication needs can be met without anyone leaving the site.
